TRIBUTES AND PRAISES

J.D. Sumner said he was a “Miracle of God”;

He made this statement without so much as a nod,

But with firm belief and stern conviction,

And only a fool would offer a contradiction.

He loved him dearly and makes no bones of this fact;

“Elvis Has Left the Building” was his tribute to his final act.

From the heart of Merle Haggard

Came “From Graceland to the Promised Land,”

A beautiful tribute in honor

Of a truly beautiful man.

Ronnie McDowell, his heart broke, gave us “The King Is Gone,”

Paying his respects with a lovely song.

“Welcome, Elvis,” sung by Billy Joe Burnett,

A more beautiful praise would be hard to get.

Wally Fowler penned a “New Star in Heaven,”

Another eulogy so lovely given

For Elvis who gave us so much more,

All the songs and praises from us can never even the score.

Leon Everette sings “Good-bye, King of Rock and Roll.”

And gives it his all

But being the King year after year finally took its toll,

And when God bade him to come, without fear, he answered the call.
