Dear Jesus

Dear Jesus, this is a thank you and a plea;
Thank you for giving us, even for a short time,
Elvis Presley.
Thank you for his voice and the music he sang;
Thank you for his gospels which we listened to
as the church bells rang.

Thank you for his obedience to his parents and to you,
our Saviour;
Thank you for his efforts to make us happy
and for his gentlemanly behaviour.
Thank you for his parents who instilled in him his belief in you,
For we all know the day will come when we must pay our just due.

Thank you for his beauty; which brought forth, from all, a sigh
Thank you for letting us know you were his last thought
when he had to die.
Thank you for giving him the will, and the way,
to help the people to whom he gave,
His faith and belief in you, has assured us he was truly saved.

Yes, Dear Jesus, we thank you for lending us this wonderful man
And for answering our plea, and his,
that his final home be in the Promise Land.
Our final plea to you dear Jesus, is this;
That the world not forget your gift of happiness
