Are We Desolate
Are we desolate tonight?
Do we miss you tonight?
Do the birds of the air take to flight?
Is the snow that covers the ground white?
Do the oceans run from shore to shore?
When a child gets candy, does he ask for more?
Do the lilies of the fields bloom year after year?
Do our eyes, at the thought of you, still fill with tears?
Does the sun still rise in the east and set in the West?
Do parents still believe they know best?
Does the black velvet of night still follow the day?
Do we still believe you did it your way?
Do the rains still fall down from the sky?
Do we still listen to your music and cry?
Does man still search for the true meaning of life?
Do we still watch your movies filled with delight?
Does the old oak still stretch its branches wide
So the ones beneath from the sun can hide?
Does Graceland still stand like a Queen
So that from all directions she can be seen?
Yes, Dear Elvis, as long as the sun bathes the earth with light
We will be desolate and miss you not just tonight but every night.
